Barn House
The conversion of a century-old barn in the Engadin, Switzerland, into a contemporary residence. Originally built to shelter livestock and store hay, the existing structure is carefully preserved, allowing its weathered timber frame and agricultural character to define the identity of the house. The new residential programme is introduced with a light touch, sitting comfortably within the original envelope while respecting its scale, materials and craftsmanship. Rather than transforming the barn beyond recognition, the project demonstrates how contemporary living can be accommodated within a historic structure without diminishing its past.
